This January saw us taking our first trip to Bintan. Admittedly, we didn’t quite enjoy ourselves there as it was in the midst of the monsoon season, it was raining non-stop and the choppy seas made our 2 hr ferry ride much more unbearable. Furthermore, SpaVilla was a good additional 1 hour van ride away from the jetty. OMG.
Luckily check-in was a breeze and we were given a really good room IMO. Room 206 was the corner room on the 2nd level, with a pretty good view of the beach. I read from other reviews on Tripadvisor to request for room 206 and luckily we got it.
The room itself was huge (but small toilet) and super good to chill in! Check out the amount of empty space the room had… could fit another king size bed with room to spare! Unfortunately the water pressure from the showerhead was lacking and it made showering a tough chore.
Not sure what to do before our scheduled massage since it was raining non-stop, we sat on the balcony, enjoyed the cooling weather and had beers and chips.
The massage was very very good indeed. I requested for another head, neck and shoulder massage on the 2nd day since it was raining and I couldn’t go to White Sands Island.
I also had my virgin experience of playing with fireworks! Pity it was a little short in duration, but mesmerizing nonetheless. It was quite fun, and I tried to take a video of it, but it was like Blairwitch Project as I was running away from the fireworks while recording. #fail
Food is an important part of my life (as you might have already known) and sadly there were some misses. We opted for the BBQ seafood dinner which wasn’t really that nice… the seafood surprisingly wasn’t as fresh as we expected and the rest of the items we chose, were mediocre at best. HOWEVER, breakfast and lunch the next day were very good! I loved the bihun goreng, I went back for seconds (buffet breakfast was included in my trip).
Since my return ferry was not till late afternoon, we also had lunch at the resort restaurant (unfortunately, my room was not available for late checkout. Room 206 is indeed very popular!). Our choice of lunch? Nasi goreng. Huge serving and super yummy!
This trip was through a online deal for S$99 per pax.
